Close to the community, close to your history
The Cheltenham and Regional Cemeteries Trust welcomed in 2007, The Brighton General Cemetery as a division of The Trust.
The Cheltenham and Regional Cemeteries Trust now encompasses Bunurong Memorial Park in Dandenong South, Cheltenham Memorial Park, Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery and Brighton General Cemetery in North Road Caulfield.
Since 1933, Bayside residents have treasured the ability to preserve the memory of their cherished relatives and friends close by at Cheltenham Memorial Park.
The cemetery was established and continues to be managed by The Cheltenham & Regional Cemeteries Trust to:
Help people and families tell stories that need to be told, preserve timeless memories, and create memorials that pay tribute to lives of service, loving relationships and sharing with others.
The Trust is a non-profit community based organisation operating under the Cemeteries Act 1958 as amended. As such it focuses solely on community needs and conducts regular community group consultations to ensure it maximises the opportunity to satisfy these needs.

The Pioneer Cemetery was established as part of the original Government Reserve. Wandering through the cemetery today, you will find the graves of many of Cheltenham's most distinguished past residents. You will also find memorials to some of its youngest inhabitants, such as the many unnamed babies from the nearby Children's Home (the site now occupied by Southland Shopping Centre) who died as a result of disease early last century. The CRCT staff will only be too happy to help families locate their loved ones by contacting us via our website. Alternatively the Cheltenham branch of the City of Kingston Library holds microfiche records of the cemetery's occupants, dating back to the cemeteries inception.
Visitors are welcome every day of the year.
